EUTM MOZ promotes a Cycle of Conferences at the FADM

The European Union Training Mission in Mozambique (EUTM MOZ) Mission Force Commander (MFCdr), Commodore Martins de Brito, was invited by the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM) to promote a Cycle of Conferences at several FADM Headquarters during the month of April.

 

These conferences took place at multiple FADM military units spread across the country, such as the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Higher Institute of Defense Studies of Mozambique, the School of Sergeants of the Armed Forces, the Military Academy “Marechal Samora Machel”, and at the Joint Operations Centre of the Theater of Operations North.

Commodore Martins de Brito along his staff had the opportunity to describe the several audiences how EUTM MOZ is contributing to the capability building of the FADM units, selected to compose future Quick Reaction Forces (QRF).

The EUTM MOZ Command Group also provided an overview of the EUTM MOZ’ mission, roles, capabilities and current activities, and main ongoing projects within the headquarters and the three training camps located in Katembe, Dongo and Mavalane.

This Cycle of Conferences strengthened the bond between the EUTM MOZ and the FADM, developed the understanding of our mission focusing on how our training and support to the FADM contributes to the protection of the civilian population and the restoration of security in Cabo Delgado.

The EUTM MOZ has 118 military and civilian personnel from 12 European Union member states - Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Sweden.

The EUTM MOZ mission is to provide training and support to the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces to protect the civilian population and restore security in the Cabo Delgado province. The mission has a non-executive mandate and will end two years after the mission has reached Full Operational Capability. The EUTM MOZ is one of the tools to address the crisis in Cabo Delgado, in conjunction with support for peacebuilding, conflict prevention and dialogue support, humanitarian assistance and development cooperation.
