EU-VIETNAM SUSTAINABLE DESIGN AWARDS 2025 - EVALUATION CRITERIA - COMMUNICATION DESIGN

This category focuses on the sustainability of information, campaigns, and visual assets, including digital and print.
Projects do not necessarily need to satisfy all of the criteria as listed below.
Evaluation criteria include:
1. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF PRODUCTION & DISTRIBUTION
- Material Selection (Print): Does it use recycled, sustainably sourced, or rapidly renewable paper/materials? Are non-toxic inks and finishes prioritized?
- Production Process (Print): Does it consider energy-efficient printing methods, waste reduction, and responsible disposal of byproducts?
- Digital Efficiency: For digital communications, does it consider data size, server energy consumption, and efficient coding to reduce digital carbon footprint?
- Distribution: Does it minimize transportation impact for physical materials?
2. MESSAGE & CONTENT
- Promoting Sustainable Behavior: Does the communication encourage environmentally and socially responsible actions?
- Accuracy & Transparency: Is the information truthful, verifiable, and free from ‘greenwashing’? Does it clearly communicate sustainability benefits?
- Clarity & Effectiveness: Is the message clear, concise, and impactful in conveying its sustainable purpose?
3. LONGEVITY & REUSABILITY
- Timelessness: Is the design durable in its message and aesthetic, avoiding rapid obsolescence?
- Adaptability: Can the communication assets be easily updated or repurposed for different platforms or campaigns?
4. SOCIAL & ETHICAL IMPACTS
- Inclusivity: Does the communication resonate with and include diverse audiences?
- Responsible Representation: Does it avoid stereotypes or misrepresentations related to sustainability issues?
- Call to Action: Does it effectively motivate positive change and engagement?
