EVSDA 2025 – ‘INNOVATION’ SHORTLIST – CASCADE OF AGES (LÊ MINH LONG, TRẦN MINH THẢO NGUYÊN, NGUYỄN THỊ MINH CHÂU)

The Cascade of Ages (2025, UEH) is an interactive art project that supports students’ mental health. According to WHO and UNICEF, the global demand for mental health care is very high; in Vietnam, at least 3 million young people have mental health problems, but only 20% receive support.

In particular, more than 70% of students experience anxiety and nearly 50% experience stress — a situation that experts assess as “very serious.”

The project offers a new solution: bringing nature into the digital environment through a virtual waterfall simulated with GPU Particle on TouchDesigner, integrated with AI MediaPipe for gesture control, and combining natural sound and images created by hand drawing, Photoshop, and AI Midjourney. Experiments show that the product is easy to access, creates a clear sense of relaxation, and opens up potential applications in education, exhibitions, and mental therapy.
