EVSDA 2025 – ‘INNOVATION’ SHORTLIST – REBIRTH (LÊ THỊ HƯƠNG GIANG, VŨ NGỌC HÀ, NGUYỄN VÂN QUYÊN)
*
“Rebirth” is a sustainable public restroom project (2024–2025) by the SKD team at Cổ Tân Flower Garden, Hanoi, inspired by the rebirth of a centuries-old cinnamomum tree uprooted by Typhoon Yagi.
The project reimagines public restrooms as cultural and community spaces, featuring modular, replicable design with facilities for men, women, people with disabilities, and pets—including automatic water dispensers and pet showers.
Built with recyclable steel, tempered glass, and granite, it uses passive ventilation, LED sensors, and rainwater reuse to save energy and water.
Maintenance costs are covered through architecturally integrated ads, keeping access free for all.
Environmentally friendly and socially inclusive, “Rebirth” embodies regeneration, sustainability, and Hanoi’s evolving urban identity—turning a simple amenity into a symbol of renewal and civic care.
