EVSDA 2025 – ‘ARCHITECTURE’ SHORTLIST – THE GREENERY STACKS (NGUYỄN VIỆT ANH, PHẠM NGỌC SƠN, TRỊNH ĐĂNG HUY, NGUYỄN THIÊN THẢO)
*
Inspired by the traditional verandas and courtyards of Northern Vietnam, The Greenery Stacks reinterprets these elements into a layered vertical garden system. These stacked “green buffers” serve multiple functions: filtering dust, reducing solar radiation, improving microclimate, and providing fresh produce.
The floor plan is optimized to capture morning breezes and sunlight, while integrating solar energy and a closed-loop aquaponics system to minimize water usage, generate food on-site, and reduce carbon emissions. Its modular structure allows for rapid construction and adaptability.
By utilizing local materials, the design lowers costs, preserves cultural identity, and offers a scalable model for sustainable living in urban and rural settings alike.
