EVSDA 2025 – ‘COMMUNICATION DESIGN’ SHORTLIST – MEKONG DELTA (TRẦN VIỆT HƯNG)

*

The Mekong Delta, the lifeblood of Vietnam and the wider region, is confronting an environmental crisis of unprecedented scale. While data on water pollution is widely available, it often fails to forge the emotional connection needed to inspire meaningful behavioral change. Pollution from domestic and industrial waste—particularly microplastics—has degraded the ecosystem and directly impacted the livelihoods of millions. The Vietnamese government has launched numerous strategies, yet the challenge remains formidable due to complex management issues and deeply ingrained habits.

"Mekong Delta" was born from the desire to bridge the gap between "knowing" and "feeling." We pose the question: Can an interactive and artistic experience cultivate a more profound cognitive and emotional impact? This project transcends mere data visualization; it is an experiential experiment designed to render invisible environmental problems tangible and to personalize abstract challenges. By casting participants as agents of change, we aim to provoke reflection and spark a dialogue about our collective environmental footprint.
