About the Ambassador

Dear Iraqi citizens, dear visitor,

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Delegation of the European Union to Iraq. As EU Ambassador I am very glad to return to this wonderful country. In the past I have served as a Member State’s diplomat in Erbil and worked with Iraq for many years in the past. It is impressive to see the progress in this country. Iraq is on its way to become a beacon of stability in a very volatile world region. As European Union we have been and will continue to be a reliable partner of Iraq and its people on this way. Considering the global challenges Europe and this region face, this strong partnership is more important than ever.

With the Iraqi Government we have agreed to jointly work for a stable, peaceful, secure and prosperous Iraq, to boost economic reforms and to create the necessary conditions for sustainable social development. Our focus is on education, energy, water and regional cooperation, rule of law and good governance. We will work hard to deepen and expand this cooperation. 

As Delegation of the European Union we are also here to underline the “Team Europe” spirit in which EU Member States and the European institutions work hand in hand to foster our mutual goals. As new Ambassador I feel honored to be a part of this effort.
