About the Ambassador
H.E. Maria Hadjitheodosiou is the EU Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. She presented her letters of credence to His Majesty King Abdullah ll on 8 September 2019.
Before her arrival to Jordan in August 2019, Ambassador Hadjitheodosiou was the Director of the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, and from September 2016 to March 2018, she was the Deputy Director and Deputy Sherpa of the Diplomatic Office of the President of the Republic of Cyprus. Previously, she served as Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the European Union and in various positions in the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the EU and the Foreign Ministry, including as Head of the European Union Policy Division. She has also served as First Secretary and Consul at the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Ireland.
Ambassador Hadjitheodosiou holds a Master of Arts degree in International Relations and International Economics from Johns Hopkins University (School of Advanced International Studies), and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics degree from Brown University.

It is my great pleasure, as the European Union Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, to extend a warm welcome to the official website of the Delegation of the European Union.
As the diplomatic mission of the European Union, the Delegation's task is to promote EU's principles of democracy, respect for liberties and human rights, as well as, provide support to Jordan in its efforts to build economic prosperity and social inclusion, further progress with reforms in the democratization process, while promoting peace and stability in the region.
I am honored to lead a great team, dedicated to supporting the EU's diplomatic engagement and bilateral cooperation with Jordan across a wide range of sectors, including: energy, education, culture, innovation, economic, health, as well as, support to Jordan in its response to the Syrian crisis. Together with the Government and the people of Jordan, we hope to further continue strengthening our cooperation and partnership.
