Strengthening EU and Kenya Relations
Andreas Peschke is the European Union (EU) Ambassador to Kenya.

Ambassador Peschke has served in several positions within the German Foreign Service, including as German Ambassador to South Africa, Lesotho and eSwatini, and as Director-General for European Affairs at the German Federal Foreign Office.
Ambassador Peschke returns to Kenya, having served as German ambassador to Kenya, Somalia and Seychelles.
Earlier in his career, he served in the German embassies in Russia and Nigeria. He has also served as Spokesperson at the German Foreign Ministry.

Deputy Ambassador
Ondrej Simek, a Czech national, was appointed as the Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union to Kenya in 2023. Before his appointment, he spent 4 years in Brussels/Belgium, working as the European External Action Service (EEAS) policy officer in charge of EU relations with South Africa and Botswana. In parallel, he also worked as Alternate Chair of the Africa Council Working Group. Prior to his return to the EEAS headquarters in August 2019, he served as the Head of Political, Press and Information in EU Delegations to Uzbekistan and Rwanda. He has also previous working experience from the areas of peace and security, human and social development, public service reform and media. Ondrej holds MA in European Studies from the Central European University and MPhil in International Relations from the University of Cambridge. He is married and has two children.
