About the Ambassador
Before taking up her duties as Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Union to Madagascar and the Comoros, Isabelle Delattre Burger spent most of her career in the European institutions, holding from 2018 to 2022 the position of Head of Unit for cooperation with the countries of Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean (in the European Commission's Directorate-General for International Partnerships).
She was previously in charge of relations with the United Nations, from 2011 to 2017, first as Deputy Head of Division for Multilateral Relations at the European External Action Service and then at the EU Delegation in New York, where she followed sustainable development matters. Her previous positions, after a stint in journalism, communication and translation, include monitoring negotiations on external relations, justice and home affairs at the Council of the European Union (2000-2004), Head of Section for European Police Cooperation (2004-2007) and Political Assistant to the Director General for External Relations (2010-2011).
Isabelle Delattre Burger, a French national, holds a master’s degree in Information Sciences from the The Paris Institute of Political Studies and a master’s degree in Germanic Studies from the New Sorbonne University. She is married and has three children.

Welcome to the official webpage of the Delegation of the European Union to Madagascar and the Comoros!
Dear Citizens, Friends and Partners,
There has been a long-standing historic connection between Madagascar, the Comoros and the European Union ever since the European Economic Community office in the Big Island was first established in 1958, and since the creation of the first European Development Fund in the Comoros the same year.
Since that day, our relations have evolved from development aid to a mutually beneficial partnership, characterised by respect and adherence to the shared values of peace, dialogue and cooperation. Based on an open, innovative, inclusive and mutually beneficial relationship, this collaboration encompasses several dimensions: political, economic, trade and cultural relations, regional integration, humanitarian aid and development cooperation. This partnership has led to important achievements and has brought us the awareness of how strong the bond between us is.
The European Union will therefore continue to support initiatives aimed at creating favourable, yet essential conditions for the development and growth of both the Malagasy and Comorian populations. This web portal is above all, at your service, and it will be providing information that will contribute to deepening the mutual knowledge, exchanges and cooperation between our two countries and the European Union.
