Statement by the High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini on the attack in Yemen

"The cost of the continued war in Yemen is becoming more and more unbearable. The horrific attack on a funeral gathering in Sanaa today has provoked a terrible loss of life among mourners and family members and left many injured.  

The EU extends its condolences to the families of the victims.

Those responsible for the attack must be identified and held accountable. But it's not enough. The parties, the regional and international actors should engage without any further delays to put an end to the war. 

All parties should return to the negotiating table. The European Union offers its full support to the efforts of UN Special Envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed to find a political solution.The people of Yemen deserve a return to peace."
