Culture
European Union Film Festival - Every year, the European Union Film Festival (EUFF) — our longest-running cultural activity — gives Canadians from coast to coast, including Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver, a chance to experience Europe's diverse and rich film heritage. Whether highlighting historic events, political subjects or personal dilemmas, European films are intellectually stimulating and culturally engaging.
European Union Cultural Fair - In the summer, the EU Delegation to Canada organizes the EU Cultural Fair in collaboration with the EU countries diplomatic missions in the Ottawa Capital Region. This celebration offers Canadians a unique opportunity to experience the rich and diverse cultures of the European Union countries for a day.
Nuit Blanche – Nuit Blanche is Toronto’s annual all-night celebration of contemporary art, transforming public spaces into artistic landscapes. In 2025, the EU Delegation partnered with OCAD University for a cinematic projection.

EU
Research and Innovation
Horizon Europe
In the field of science and research, Canada is associated since 3 July 2024 to Pillar II of Horizon Europe, the largest collaborative part of the EU programme primarily with a budget of EUR 53.5 billion.
The program funds collaborative research projects in critical areas such as oceans, health, raw materials, energy, bioeconomy, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure. By associating with Horizon Europe, Canadian entities, including universities, research centres and companies, have the opportunity to participate in these projects on comparable terms to those of EU member states, with Canada contributing to the overall budget.
To support the collaboration of Canada in the Horizon Europe program, the EU Delegation organises series of informative workshops through the Policy Dialogue Support Facility project. These workshops in collaboration with Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) covered Horizon Europe’s six thematic clusters—from health to climate and mobility—providing hands-on guidance on proposal design, consortium building, and project management.
