The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Azerbaijan jointly with the Embassies of the EU Member States accredited in Azerbaijan in partnership with the Landmark Business Centre and “CinemaPlus” cinema network will organize the 12th edition of the European Film Festival in Baku. The European Film Festival will run from 14 to 25 November 2022.

Baku will host 12 memorable days of the European cinema for the 12th edition of the European Film Festival. The programme includes screening of 12 films from 11 European Union countries (the Czech Republic, Germany, Estonia, France, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden) and Ukraine.

The Festival will demonstrate the latest trends of the European filmmaking. The selected films will suit all the tastes. There are dramas, comedies, history films, documentary films and others.

“I am delighted that this year we are able to return the annual European Film Festival to the big screen. This is one of the long-established and popular initiatives of the EU and EU Member States under “Team Europe” umbrella in Azerbaijan. We would like to give the Azerbaijani audience an opportunity to learn more about the newest films, European culture and values, indulge in discussions and build connections”, said Peter Michalko, EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan.

The films will be available in the original language mainly with the English but also Azerbaijani and Turkish subtitles. The films will be demonstrated in Landmark CineClub (90 Nizami St) and CinemaPlus in Deniz Mall.

Keeping to the tradition of the European Film Festivals, entrance to all the films will be free, on “the first come first served” basis.

The European Film Festivals are organized on an annual basis with the aim to build and develop the cultural links existing between the European Union countries and Azerbaijan and to contribute to better understanding of the European values through the European movie industry. Since 2010, within the framework of the European Film Festivals, 158 films have been demonstrated in Azerbaijan.
