European Research Council (ERC) Funding for Frontier Research

The European Research Council (ERC) supports frontier research across all fields and also awards grants to scientists and scholars from all over the world.

Since 2007, it has funded more than 12,000 projects and over 10,000 scientists and scholars from all over the world. 12 Nobel Prizes, 6 Fields Medals, 11 Wolf Prizes and dozens of important scientific prizes have been awarded to ERC grantees.

On 2 February 2023, the President of the ERC, Prof Maria Leptin, discussed in an informal setting of how the ERC supports researchers from anywhere in the world. Prof Leptin also shared details about the opportunities for high-calibre researchers supported by the National Research Foundation Singapore (NRF) to make research visits to Europe, where they will have the opportunity to work in ERC-funded teams.
