To celebrate International Women’s Day, the EU Delegation to the African Union teamed up with EWGA, the Ethiopian Women Graffiti Artists collective for a mural painting at the Delegation’s entrance.
The recently established group believes in empowering women through street art and the five young female artists who created the mural (Juliet Giuseppe, Helen Tefera, Kalkidan Mesele, Misgana Kasrat and Mahlet Afework) are highly committed to break gender stereotypes.
There’s no such thing as ‘women’s jobs’ or ‘men’s jobs’ and graffiti artists should be no exception.
Ambassador Markussen and Leslie Richer, African Union's Director of Information & Communication joined the creative process, contributing with symbolic brushes.
