TSE Confirms October 19 Runoff After August 17 Election Results

The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) approved the final tally of the August 17 general elections, officially confirming the results.

 

The Christian Democratic Party (PDC), led by candidate Rodrigo Paz Pereira, came in first with 32.06 percent of the vote. The LIBRE alliance, headed by former president Jorge Tuto Quiroga, placed second with 26.70 percent.

According to the count, the PDC received 1,717,432 votes, while LIBRE secured 1,430,176. A total of 7,936,515 citizens were eligible to vote. Of these, 6,900,418 cast ballots, representing a turnout of 86.95 percent.

Valid votes accounted for 77.63 percent of the total, while 19.87 percent were null and 2.50 percent were blank.

With no candidate securing an outright victory, Rodrigo Paz and Jorge Tuto Quiroga will compete in a runoff election scheduled for October 19, 2025.
