Congratulatory Message by the EU Ambassador Peksa on Diplomatic Workers’ Day of Turkmenistan for TV4 Channel

Dear Friends,

On this day of Diplomatic staff, we honour the dedication and resilience of all our colleagues that work in diplomacy and spare no effort to build bridges between nations. Diplomacy is not just about formalities. It’s not about protocol. It’s not about boring negotiations, speeches, and definitively not about receptions and drinking champagne. It’s about building hope and understanding. It’s about striving for peace, even in the most challenging circumstances.

That’s why today, in Turkmenistan - and in many countries in the world in which the Day of Diplomats may be on perhaps different days, different occasions - when we celebrate the Day of Diplomats, we think about our colleagues that work in the most difficult positions, in the hardship posts, when they look at the wars, when they look at the people that are deprived of their human rights by the regimes. And where they risk their personal lives. So, we are all with them, and we feel even more responsible to work for peace, to enter boring negotiations, to have the courage, to put out efforts, to have the understanding, to finish wars, to achieve peace.

I would like to, first, express my wishes to the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, who is very well-known diplomat in the world, and of course in Turkmenistan. I would like to, of course, express my wishes to all diplomats in Turkmenistan and all diplomatic staff, and to their families, because without their support, we would not be able to achieve what we do. All the best to all of you, good health and peace in our future”
