Marking Four Years of Russia’s War of Aggression Against Ukraine: A Message of Unity and Solidarity
Four years on, Ukraine continues to demonstrate resilience in the face of the ongoing aggression. The commemoration provided an important opportunity to reaffirm unwavering solidarity with Ukraine and to underline the importance of unity within the international community.
The campaign featured a series of short video messages from over 20 EU Member States Ambassadors and Chargés d’Affaires. They highlighted why it remains crucial to stand united in support of Ukraine, working towards accountability, what lessons can be drawn from Ukraine’s resilience and determination, and what message of solidarity they wish to convey to the Ukrainian people. The videos also underscored how cooperation between the European Union and the Council of Europe can be further strengthened. EU Ambassador Vesna Kos raised that the 'EU is a member of the Register of Damage, has signed the Claims Commission Convention, and has provided crucial support for a new Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine'. The closing video featured the Ukrainian Ambassador Mykola Tochytskyi expressing appreciation for EU’s solidarity and its support to end the war and achieve accountability.
