Joint Visit by Chair of the EU Military Committee General Seán Clancy and NATO Military Committee Chair Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone Reinforces Unified Support for Ukraine

Between 20 and 25 April, in a show of continued solidarity, General Seán Clancy, Chair of the EU Military Committee (EUMC), and Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chair of the NATO Military Committee (CMC), conducted a joint visit to Ukraine last week. The visit underscored the deepening coordination between the EU and NATO in supporting Ukraine’s defence against Russia’s illegal war of aggression.

Ukraine’s fight is Europe’s fight. The EU remains fully committed to providing the necessary support—financial, military, and strategic—for as long as it takes.

During their mission, General Clancy and Admiral Dragone met with Ukraine’s top defence leadership, including General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Perebyinis. Discussions focused on Ukraine’s urgent military requirements, long-term security commitments, and the critical role of EU-NATO complementarity in sustaining defence efforts.

NATO’s resolve is ironclad. Together with the EU, we are ensuring Ukraine has what it needs to defend its sovereignty and our shared security.

Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chair of the NATO Military Committee (CMC)

The visit highlighted the mutually reinforcing efforts of both organisations, from industrial capacity-building to battlefield innovation. As Ukraine continues to shape modern warfare strategies, this collaboration ensures that support remains aligned, coordinated, and sustained.
