Financial Practitioners Workshop for EUMAM Ukraine strengthens coordination among Member States
On 28 and 29 April, the Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC) hosted in Brussels a Financial Practitioners Workshop for EUMAM Ukraine, bringing together key stakeholders involved in the financial implementation of the mission.
The workshop gathered representatives from 15 EU Member States, including European Peace Facility (EPF) Committee delegates, national finance experts, and decision-makers, alongside participants from the EUMAM Ukraine Headquarters, the EPF Administrator for Operations, the EU Military Staff, and the Clearing House Cell. The event provided an important platform for exchange of information, practical experiences and perspectives on the financial processes supporting the mission. Discussions focused on recently updated procedures related to the reimbursement of common costs and assistance measures, as well as on ex post controls, the applicable regulatory framework, and coordination with Ukrainian authorities.
Ensuring timely, transparent, and predictable financial flows is essential to sustain Member States’ contributions and, ultimately, the operational effectiveness of the mission. In this context, the reimbursement mechanisms under the European Peace Facility play a crucial role in enabling continued support to Ukraine.
“Efficient and predictable financial mechanisms are key to ensuring that Member States’ contributions translate into tangible support on the ground. Strengthened coordination among financial practitioners directly contributes to the effectiveness and sustainability of the mission,”
a senior MPCC official stated.
Beyond technical discussions, the workshop fostered a strong sense of shared responsibility and cooperation among participants. The open exchange of views contributed to clarifying processes, identifying challenges, and promoting practical solutions to facilitate implementation.
The workshop forms part of the European Union’s broader effort to support Ukraine in response to Russia’s ongoing war of aggression. The high level of engagement and the constructive dialogue demonstrated the EU’s continued commitment to delivering coordinated, effective, and sustainable support through EUMAM Ukraine.
