Partnerships in Action: Operationalising Peacebuilding Efforts for Impact
As conflicts become more frequent, prolonged and complex, the need for peacebuilding efforts that deliver tangible results has never been greater. How can the international community better prevent conflict, sustain peace and ensure that global commitments translate into meaningful impact on the ground?
Held during the first-ever UN Peacebuilding Week at United Nations Headquarters in New York, the event will bring together Member States, the UN system and peacebuilding practitioners to move the conversation from principles to practice. Through an interactive roundtable discussion and the exchange of country experiences, participants will explore what enables effective, nationally led peacebuilding efforts and how international support can become more coherent, accountable and responsive to local realities.
The discussion forms part of a year-long, cross-regional initiative led by the European Union to develop practical recommendations on strengthening UN peacebuilding and conflict prevention, with a view to informing future discussions on the next generation of UN peacebuilding efforts.
The event is organised in partnership with the Joint UNDP–DPPA Programme on Building National Capacities for Conflict Prevention, the Permanent Missions of Croatia, Kenya and Syria, the Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation (CMI) and the International Peace Institute (IPI).
