EUMS host 10th EUMS – EUROCORPS Management Level Meeting in Brussels
To strengthen cooperation between the EUMS and EUROCORPS, the Director General of the European Union Military Staff (DGEUMS) and the Commander of EUROCORPS (COMEC), in response to evolving operational, training and institutional requirements, signed a new Letter of Intent (LoI) on 25 August 2025, identifying eleven areas of potential collaboration between the two organisations. Covering activities both within and beyond the scope of EU Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) missions, the updated LoI ensures that EUMS–EUROCORPS cooperation remains relevant, effective and aligned with current and future security challenges.
Building on the LoI, DGEUMS and COMEC subsequently agreed an Implementation Work Plan (IWP), which provides the framework for the two organisations to meet annually at Management Level to review progress, assess implementation and provide strategic guidance for future cooperation. The Deputy Directors of both organisations oversee the implementation of the IWP.
In his opening remarks, Major General HORVATH highlighted that the MLM is another opportunity in the ever-growing and increasingly fruitful collaboration and relationship between the EUMS and EUROCORPS, in the framework of the European military cooperation, to evolve in response to new challenges and opportunities that arise in our complex, and interconnected world.
The 10th Management Level Meeting provided an opportunity to review the wide range of collaborative activities currently underway and exchange updates on key areas of mutual interest. Together with topics such as mission and operations updates and connectivity, the meeting was primarily dedicated to reviewing the outcomes of MILEX 26, reflecting on the key achievements, and identifying lessons to take forward, not only operational capabilities, but also the effectiveness of coordination, planning, and decision-making processes between the two organisations.
In his closing remarks, Major General HORVATH expressed his sincere appreciation to the EUROCORPS delegation for its active engagement, commitment and valuable contributions throughout the meeting and emphasised the importance of both organisations continuing to adapt, innovate and deepen their cooperation across existing and emerging areas.
The next EUMS–EUROCORPS Management Level Meeting is scheduled to take place in Strasbourg in early 2027.
