Secretary General of the EEAS

Kajsa Ollongren serves as Secretary-General of the European External Action Service since 1 September 2026. She brings extensive experience in both European and national public service, most recently as EU Special Representative for Human Rights. Before that, she held posts in the Dutch national government, including as Minister of Defence (2022 – 2024), and as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (2017 – 2022), concluding as Secretary-General of the Office of the Prime Minister. In total, she brings more than 30 years of experience in public service, diplomacy and governance.
