The European Union and Mozambique maintain a broad partnership, built on political dialogue and cooperation across several areas of common interest. From sustainable development and economic opportunities to peace, security and governance, the relationship reflects a shared ambition to address common challenges and create opportunities for both sides. Under the EU’s Global Gateway strategy, the European Union and Mozambique signed four agreements worth €178 million, to support four priority areas: €40 million for electricity access, €28 million for digital transformation, €60 million for agribusiness and sustainable value chains, and €50 million for education and skills.
Building on decades of partnership, the European Union remains committed to working closely with Mozambique to deepen political dialogue, strengthen cooperation and explore new opportunities for mutual benefit. With Ambassador Francisco Fontán taking up his mandate, the EU looks forward to continuing this engagement with the Mozambican authorities and partners, working together towards shared priorities and delivering tangible benefits for the people of Mozambique and the European Union.
