GIs: Key to Success of the EUSFTA
Geographical Indications (GIs) are key to the success of the EUSFTA. The EU and Singapore agreed that protection of EU GIs in Singapore was a key issue to allow the entry into force of the EUSFTA.
GIs:
• Protect farmers’ and producers’ rights
• Guarantee authenticity to consumers,
• Protect local value at global level.
This seminar brings together various stakeholders with shared interest in quality foods and beverages as well as regulatory framework for food quality and trade: authorities of Singapore, food and drinks business community of Singapore (importers/exporters, retailers, representatives of chambers of commerce) and EU Member States diplomatic and business representatives.
