Multiconfessionalism

The construction of the Catholic Church in Tashkent started in 1912 on the initiative of priest Justin Bonaventure Pranaitis according to the project of the famous Polish architect Ludwik Panciakevich.
The workers in the construction of the church were originally Catholic soldiers serving in Tashkent, and later prisoners of war near Tashkent were among the builders, who included highly qualified engineers, sculptors and masons. After the death of Pranaitis in 1917, construction continued under the leadership of Catholic priest Boleslav Rutenis.
