With EU funding, the Republic of Congo can set up development projects across the country.

Our cooperation projects

The European Union is one of the main technical and financial partner of the Republic of Congo. With 45 projects spread over the whole of the Congolese territory, the Delegation of the European Union wishes to fight against poverty, promote Human Rights, strengthen the capacities of VSEs and SMEs, protect vulnerable people, and preserve resources. natural.

Two main financial instruments are at the service of cooperation programs:

  • The European Development Fund (EDF), financed by the member states.
  • The European Union's own budget.

The European Development Fund (EDF)

It is with an envelope of 88 million euros that the 11th EDF is currently being implemented. It covers the period 2014-2020 for the implementation of programs and projects in the fields of economic and commercial governance and local development.

The European Union's own budget

Part of the European Union's own budget is allocated by the European Commission to specific development programs aimed at Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

The EU then decides on the broad lines of the programs according to the needs and expectations of the countries. In the Republic of the Congo, two main financial instruments are implemented and make it possible to finance these programs in favor of civil society and for the benefit of the Congolese populations, in order to contribute to the improvement of their living conditions:

  • The European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR).
  • The thematic program "Civil Society Organizations and Local Authorities" (OSC / LA).

The funds for these two financial instruments are granted following calls for proposals launched periodically.
