Message from the Ambassador

Dear visitors,

It is a great pleasure, as the European Union Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman, to extend a warm welcome to the official website of the Delegation of the European Union.

I was recently appointed as the Ambassador of the European Union. Nevertheless, the relations between the EU and the Gulf go far back in time. Since the signature of the Cooperation Agreement in 1988, the EU-GCC bilateral Relations have been steadily developing and broadening between the EU and individual Gulf countries as well as with the GCC as a bloc. The EU has forged a constructive dialogue and cooperation with the GCC countries in plenty of domains, thus leading to a solid partnership for the sake of common gains in welfare and security as well as strengthening stability and prosperity in the region.

As the diplomatic mission of the European Union, the Delegation's task is to promote EU values as well as, provide support to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Oman in their efforts to build economic prosperity and social inclusion while promoting peace and stability in the region.

I am eager to build on this evolving relationship and intend to contribute to making it closer and stronger during the years to come with the support of a great team, dedicated to supporting the EU's diplomatic engagement and bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors.

Through this website, you will be able to find helpful information and resources about the EU's engagement and projects, cultural activities, developments in economic and trade relations,  and the latest news on European affairs in Brussels and around the world.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the EU team via email: DELEGATION-SAUDI-ARABIA@eeas.europa.eu

I would like to invite you to follow us on Twitter (@EUintheGCC) and on Instagram and Facebook using the handle @EUinKSA for the Delegation, as well as my personal account @eusimonpa.

I welcome you once again and thank you for taking the time to browse. I hope it will help you to gain a better understanding of the EU's engagement and activities in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Oman.

Mr. Patrick Simonnet, EU Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kingdom of Bahrain and Sultanate of Oman.
