About the Ambassador

The Ambassador of the European Union to Serbia represents the EU, promotes the results of EU Assistance and is in constant contact with the Serbian authorities. He also leads the Delegation in day-to-day activities.

Andreas von Beckerath has been appointed to the position in August 2025.

He took this position after serving as the Ambassador of Sweden to Poland.

Previously, he was the Ambassador of Sweden to Ukraine, Head of the Eastern European Department at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he also held a number of other positions. 

Message from the Ambassador

EU and Serbia – A Huge Opportunity

EU accession process is a huge opportunity for Serbia. The European Union has a strong and long-standing commitment on this path and is by far the biggest investor, biggest trade partner and biggest donor to Serbia.

EU assistance translates into concrete projects implemented jointly with Serbia to support key reforms in a broad range of areas such as Rule of Law, Public Administration, Environment and Energy but also Health for instance. We support teachers, farmers, scientists, medical doctors, innovators and many more around Serbia. We provide ambulances, fire fighting vehicles, and build schools and hospitals for the benefit of the citizens of Serbia.
