EU Delegations are part of the European External Action Service (EEAS), which is the European Union's diplomatic service. They are essential to the promotion of EU interests and values around the world and are in the front line in delivering EU external relations policy and action.

Our Delegation

The European Delegation to Syria is part of a network of over 140 European Union (EU) delegations worldwide. The delegations are normal diplomatic missions complementary to EU Member States’ embassies and reflect the distribution of competences and functions between the EU Member States and the European Union.

Since December 2012, the Delegation to Syria is headed by a Chargé d’Affaires a.i. in the absence of an accredited Head of Mission. Since December 2024, the EU has substantively stepped up its presence and engagement in Damascus. Since November 2025, the EU Delegation to Syria permanently relocated to Damascus to allow for enhanced dialogue and cooperation with the Syrian authorities.
