The European Union's third annual maritime security exercise, MARSEC EU 26, is currently ongoing in Finland, strengthening cooperation among EU Member States and agencies and improving the protection of critical maritime infrastructure in the Baltic Sea.

Following the 2008 Russo-Georgian War, the EU established a civilian monitoring mission in Georgia. Since then, the EUMM has been making an impartial contribution to stability and security, despite increasingly strained relations between the EU and Georgia.

Brussels, 9 September 2026 - In a landmark engagement to deepen European defence cooperation, the European Union Military Committee (EUMC), led by General Seán Clancy, visited the European Defence Agency (EDA) headquarters in Brussels.

The international community must continue to press Russia for a ceasefire and a negotiated peace.
