EU Projects with Argentina
Relations between the European Union and Argentina face common challenges to achieve more inclusive, just and sustainable societies. The EU is currently promoting cooperation relations with Argentina through technical assistance, exchange of experiences and networking.
The Cooperation
Within the framework of the economic cooperation agreement (1990) and the scientific cooperation agreement (1999), the European Union and Argentina have been developing exchanges and cooperation involving all branches of government and their respective levels (national, provincial and municipal), as well as the private sector, academia and civil society throughout the country.
The main areas of work and collaboration between the European Union and Argentina are:
- Climate change, environment and energy.
- Promotion of social cohesion, inclusion and social development.
- Eradication of violence against women and girls and promotion of gender equality.
- University and scientific cooperation.
- Justice and security.
- Economic, trade and investment cooperation.
- Human rights and strengthening of civil society.
The European Union's newly defined priorities for its external action in the period 2021-2027 are based on the commitment towards the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. A central part of the European Commission's new strategy is the so-called Green Deal. The European Green Deal is the roadmap for equipping the European Union with a sustainable economy in order to achieve a just and inclusive transition for Europe and the world. That is why the current and future cooperation of the European Union at global level, and in Argentina in particular, will be guided by the broad guidelines of the European Green Deal, and other priorities such as digitalisation, human rights, gender, development and social justice, among others.
Below you will find information on all EU cooperation initiatives open to Argentine participation. The initiatives are presented at 3 levels of application: at the national level, projects co-financed with Argentinean civil society organisations and directly supported by the Delegation of the European Union in Argentina are included, as well as bilateral projects financed by the Partnership Instrument. On the other hand, the levels of regional cooperation between Latin America and the European Union and global cooperation include all initiatives implemented by the European Union in the world, in which we have the valuable cooperation of the institutions of the Argentine Republic.
