EU Ambassador Hohmann presents her credentials to Albanian President Begaj

Tirana, 2 August 2022 – The Ambassador of the European Union to Albania Christiane Hohmann presented today her credentials to the Albanian President Bajram Begaj, following her appointment in June by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell.

The credentials ceremony took place at the President’s Office and was followed by a meeting between the two.

Ambassador Hohmann congratulated President Begaj on the opening of accession talks. She spoke about the progress achieved by Albania so far and the demanding tasks ahead as the country starts a new chapter on its EU path.

“The accession process to the EU needs sustained reform efforts by Albania beyond the negotiation process. Myself and the team of the EU Delegation in Albania stand ready to support the country and its people on this exciting path towards EU membership,” Ambassador Hohmann said.

Ambassador Hohmann served as the Ambassador of Germany to Estonia and previously as the German Ambassador to Bosnia and Hercegovina. Prior to that Ambassador Hohmann held various diplomatic positions in the US and the European Commission.
