Climate Diplomacy Weeks in Aotearoa New Zealand

03.11.2022

Extremely busy weeks for Caroline Lambert as part of Climate Diplomacy Weeks

From September to early November, Caroline Lambert, Head of Trade and Climate expert, had a packed agenda speaking at many events, panels and lectures across New Zealand talking about the EU Green Deal, RePowerEU, Sustainable Finance and climate action.

The events and panels brought together students, academics, politicians, NGOs and businesses, which allowed for better understanding of EU climate policy especially due to the acceleration of the EU’s energy and climate policy developments following Russia's illegal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.

A large portion of the EUDEL in Wellington’s work is Climate diplomacy. The recently agreed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) commits the EU and New Zealand to effectively implement the Paris Agreement and to work together on climate-related matters, including carbon pricing, or transition to low-carbon economy.
