Difficult Encounters: Creative pedagogies for citizen engagement

Victoria University's Political Science and International Relations Programme welcomes all free of charge to an event on Monday 10 February. The event brings together the creators of three innovative productions, the Tate Liverpool exhibition Refugee Journeys through the Balkan Route: Crisis No More? (featured on the mezzanine floor of Rutherford House 9AM-7PM), award winning performance Captain Cook Thinks Again and internationally acclaimed film Vai to highlight ways of creatively engaging citizens beyond the classroom. These performances seek to interrogate the political and moral repercussions of porous borders and the difficult political and social encounters that can result. The event uses a panel discussion with Q&A to follow to ask what we can learn from these interactive artistic endeavours. The panel consists of Amanda Beattie, Patrycja Rozbicka, Jo Randerson, Mīria George, and is facilitated by Emily Beausoleil.
The event takes place 5:30-6:45PM, 10 February, at MZ03 Rutherford House. Everyone is welcome to join free of charge.
