The von der Leyen Commission

Our new European Commission headed by Ursula von der Leyen has officially begun its term.
The new Commission will have six political priorities: a European Green Deal; a Europe Fit for the digital age; an Economy that works for all; Promoting our European Way of Life; a Stronger Europe in the world and a New Push for Democracy.
The von der Leyen Commission has the highest percentage of female representation ever, composing of 15 men and 12 women. All Members of the Commission are equal when making decisions and equally accountable for these decisions. Three Executive Vice-Presidents have a dual function, acting both as Vice-Presidents and managing a policy area. The Executive Vice-Presidents, the High-Representative/Vice-President and Vice-Presidents are in charge of political steering and coordinating the work in their area of responsibility, notably though so-called ‘Commissioners' Groups'.
As the new European Commission begins its work in the coming weeks, we will be introducing key commissioners to you. This week we started off with Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice-President and responsible for the European Green Deal. Keep your eyes peeled for the introductions on our facebook page!
