Armenia and EU Celebrate the Eighth Anniversary of the Signing of the CEPA
The Government of the Republic of Armenia, the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia and the Embassy of Denmark commemorated the eighth anniversary of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), an agreement based on which EU and Armenia have been strengthening political dialogue, economic cooperation, and commitment to reforms.
CEPA, since its signing, has been integral to fostering Armenia’s development, enhancing democratic governance, and advancing the rule of law while creating promising economic opportunities for all citizens. Armenia and the European Union have collaboratively pursued reforms in justice, public administration, human rights, and environmental protection, alongside advances in digital transformation, connectivity, and sustainable economic development.
“Over the years, our collaboration has matured with the EU’s ongoing support for Armenia’s reform agenda, socio-economic resilience, economic diversification efforts, and initiatives to strengthen regional connectivity,” mentioned the Head of EU Delegation to Armenia, EU Ambassador, Vassilis Maragos.
Deputy Prime Minister of RA, Mher Grigoryan mentioned, “Today we have the opportunity not only to look back on the path we have taken, but also to outline our future actions. A future in which CEPA, together with the new Armenia–EU Partnership Agenda, will serve as the backbone of our reforms, the guiding framework of our development programs, and a key pillar of our international relations. The partnership between Armenia and the European Union is now reaching a new level of fulfilment, preserving the value-based foundation of CEPA while expanding its political and economic scope.”
“As Denmark currently holds the EU Presidency, we are pleased to support today’s anniversary event by bringing Danish keynote speaker Sune Knudsen to Armenia. We welcome the opportunity to share Denmark’s experience in public-sector innovation and in working with partners across society—nationally and internationally—to drive reforms and deliver results. This approach builds organisations and solutions that match the complexity of the world today and can contribute to unlocking the full potential of CEPA,” highlighted Anne Toft Sørensen, Ambassador of Denmark to Armenia.
EU and Armenia continue the efforts to deliver tangible benefits improving the lives of Armenian citizens, fostering a more dynamic and forward-looking partnership.
