On 9 May, we celebrate the Day of Europe. This is a day of European unity and peace in Europe and the world.  Seventy-five years ago, with the Schuman Declaration of 1950, Europe made a deliberate choice: peace and reconciliation over conflict and division.

It was a choice for the future instead of the past; peace instead of war; unity instead of division. 

Today we continue to fight for our values, for prosperity, freedom, and cooperation. The European Union is committed to peace, partnership and cooperation – in Europe and beyond. Across the world, we are a principled and reliable partner for prosperity, security, and reform.

Here in Armenia we celebrate Europe Day. We celebrate our commitment to peace, democracy and partnership. We also celebrate our cultural ties as Armenian and European cultures are interlinked.

We work with Armenia on a new partnership agenda! We have launched visa liberalisation dialogue and the EU will continue supporting Armenia’s resilience, Armenia’s economy and reforms. Relations between EU and Armenia have never been so close. And depends on the work to be done on both sides to further strengthen our relations.

We also support peace and normalisation in the region. The presence of the civilian EU Mission in Armenia is a testimony to our enduring commitment.
