We offer:

A traineeshipof up to 6 months in 2026 within the Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation,. The tentative start date is 17 August 2026.

Under the supervision and mentoring of a Trainee supervisor, this traineeship will provide a solid and meaningful professional and learning experience in a multicultural and international work environment.

Main tasks: 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

 

  • Monitoring media coverage of EU-related topics in Brazilian and international media, preparing daily or weekly press reviews and summaries. 
  • Supporting social media management by drafting posts, scheduling content, and helping maintain the Delegation's presence on platforms such as Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube. 
  • Creating communication materials, including social media graphics, captions, newsletters, press releases, website articles, and event announcements. 
  • Assisting with content production, such as taking photos, recording videos, editing short clips, and gathering material from EU-funded projects and events. 
  • Supporting media relations by maintaining press contact lists, helping organize interviews, and assisting with press conferences or media briefings. 
  • Contributing to communication campaigns related to EU priorities, bilateral EU-Brazil relations, sustainability, human rights, trade, culture, education, and other policy areas. 
  • Tracking social media performance and preparing analytics reports on audience engagement, reach, and campaign effectiveness. 
  • Supporting event communication, including preparing promotional content before events and reporting on activities afterward. 
  • Conducting research on public opinion, communication trends and influencers. 
  • Assisting with translation and proofreading of communication materials between English, Portuguese, and sometimes other EU languages, depending on language skills.

POLITICAL SKILLS

 

  • Research on Brazilian political, social, human rights and economic topics; contribution to reports, including political and meeting minutes; 
  • Assistance with preparations of briefings and organisation of meetings / events; 
  • General assistance to the Political, Press and Information Section.

We look for:

 

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • University (Bachelor’s) degree in Communications, Business, Economic, Social, Law or Political Science and related fields.
  • Very good knowledge of the Portuguese and English language, orally and in writing (knowledge of the Spanish language is not considered to be equivalent to Portuguese); 
  • Good analytical skills;
  • Experience in the areas of communications, social media or press-related work;
  • Experience in working social media tools such as Canva, CapCut, Lightroom;
  • Knowledge of international relations / politics and already having worked in a diplomatic environment would be an asset.
  • Candidates must have less than one year of professional experience after their graduation by the signing of the Traineeship agreement. (other traineeships or student jobs or volunteering works carried out during university or after graduation are not considered as professional experience)

Important information to read before applying

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee. 

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin. 

Citizens from EU Member states:

  • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
  • must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable,  based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
