2026 European Culture Street to Debut in Hangzhou

One Street, Many Stories – Experience Europe in One Stop

The 2026 European Culture Street will take place from the afternoon of April 17 to April 18 at Qianjiang New City, Shangcheng District. The event is co-hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to China, and the Hangzhou Foreign Affairs Office, with student volunteers from Zhejiang International Studies University providing on-site support.

Since its launch in 2017, European Culture Street has been successfully held in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu, growing into a landmark cultural diplomacy event dedicated to enhancing EU-China people-to-people exchanges and mutual understanding.

Under the theme “One Street, Many Stories”, the one-and-a-half-day event will offer visitors an immersive journey across Europe, showcasing the cultural richness and contemporary creativity of the EU through interactive booths, live stage performances, an EU Geographical Indications (GI) exhibition, and hands-on activities for all ages.

The event will feature:

  • Diversified culture exhibits from 27 EU Member State Booths: Visitors explore the unique culture, traditions, crafts, cuisine, etc., of each EU Member States.
  • Nearly 9 Hours of Live Performances with Jazz, rock, classical, folk, and traditional European music. 
  • EU Geographical Indications (GI) Exhibition: Under the theme "Taste Tradition, Guard the Origin", visitors discovered authentic European food and drink products.  
  • Passport Stamp Game & Interactive Zone: Visitors can collect stamps from each booths, turning their journey into a fun and interactive cultural experience.
  • Green Experience: Join green interactive activities in a fun and engaging way.

The opening ceremony will be held on the afternoon of April 17, with remarks from H.E. Mr. Jorge Toledo, Ambassador of the European Union to China, H.E. Ms. Koula Sophianou, Ambassador of Cyprus (holder of the EU Council Presidency in the first half of 2026), and representatives of the Hangzhou Municipal Government.
