EVAW 2026: Confessions of a Swedish Man: film screening & discussion

Every year, on 25 November, we mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. 

The EU remains committed to eradicating violence against women and girls both within the Union and beyond and calls for action to stand in solidarity with the victims and survivors.

For this reason and to raise awareness, the Delegation of the European Union to China invites you to the screening of “Confessions of a Swedish Man”, directed by Hampus Linder and produced by Helene Granqvist. 

Following the screening, a panel discussion will take place with acclaimed Swedish producer Helene Granqvist and renowned Chinese director Shen Yu. The discussion will explore masculinity in social culture, the persistence of traditional gender roles and norms in the digital age, their impact on gender-based violence and discrimination, and the emergence of new, non-toxic expressions of masculinity that contribute positively to the elimination of gender violence.
