« Lire notre Europe » with Jan Carson : The Fire Starters

The Irish Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will host the second event in this new literary series with Northern Irish author Jan Carson.

Jan Carson's writing falls within the literary genre of magical realism and she is particularly interested in Irish identity and the communal conflicts that have shaken Ireland. Her penultimate novel, The Fire Starters (2019), published in France by Sabine Wespieser as Les Lanceurs de Feu, was awarded the European Union Prize for Literature in Ireland.

The event will take place in English and will be moderated by Ms Clíona Ni Riordain, University Professor at Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle.

This event is part of the "Lire notre Europe" initiative, which invites to a monthly literary journey across Europe. It is organised within the framework of the local EUNIC network in Strasbourg (European Union National Institutes for Culture) to celebrate Strasbourg as World Book Capital 2024.
