On 9 May, we are taking you on an immersive journey around Strasbourg to discover Europe!

We invite high school students to join us on 9 May 2023 to learn more about the European project and its actors! This year, the Delegation of the European Union in Strasbourg wishes to celebrate Europe Day through an interactive initiative that will allow you to (re)discover the history of the European integration and the cultural diversity of EU Member States.

Each year, Europe Day is an opportunity for us to promote our values, our way of life and our joint commitment with the Council of Europe to human rights, democracy and the rule of law. To celebrate Europe Day in 2023, the Delegation of the European Union to the Council of Europe is offering a unique European experience to students in the Grand-East Region aged 14 to 18.

We are organising this exciting game in partnership with several actors: the Council of Europe, the Permanent Representations of Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden and Ireland to the Council of Europe, the City of Strasbourg, the Région Grand Est, the European School of Strasbourg, Europe Direct and the European Parliamentary Association.

The participants will all meet at the starting point: the EU Delegation to the Council of Europe. Each student will receive a "European passport", which will be filled in with stamps throughout the game. The tour will then lead the participants from one permanent representation to another, passing by other European, local or regional institutions.

They will “travel through Europe”, moving from one game point to another. At each strategic stop, the students will be invited to take up a small challenge (a game, a riddle, a quiz). They will learn more about each country, about the history of Europe and the common values of the Council of Europe and the EU. The activities will last no more than 15 to 20 minutes per stop and the total duration of the game will be about 2 hours.

Social gatherings are also on the agenda! After the European discovery game, students and their teachers will be invited to meet in the afternoon with diplomats, members of the European Parliament and other public actors. Our idea is to offer participants an informal exchange during which they will be able to ask all their questions to the diplomatic corps and European representatives.

The final stage of our activity will be the award ceremony: students whose passports are completely filled in will receive a diploma and symbolic prizes. Participation is optional but we strongly encourage students to come and meet their classmates and representatives!

How to participate in this our discovery game? We invite group leaders to fill out this registration form before 6 April (a different registration form for each group). Please note that students cannot participate in this activity individually and unaccompanied. Students will need to be divided into groups of 5-12 with their chaperone, which may be a teacher or parent. Please also select your preference for a time slot. We cannot guarantee that all groups will receive the requested time slot, but we will take your choice into account when planning the tours.

If you are unable to fill out the Google form, please download the Word document below, complete it and send it to us at delegation-strasbourg-press@eeas.europa.eu with "Europe Day Registration" in the subject line.
