Celebrating Women in Diplomacy: Inspiring the Next Generation

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Delegation of the European Union to the Council of Europe invited diplomats from all Permanent Representations to the Council of Europe to inspire the next generation of women leaders in diplomacy. This initiative aligned with the UN’s theme “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”

From Monday, March 3rd to Saturday, March 8th, we revealed 23 inspiring short videos on our social media platforms. These videos featured Ambassadors and Chargés d’affaires sharing their insights and encouragement with girls and young women aspiring to careers in diplomacy.

Did you miss these inspiring messages? No worries! Catch up and watch all the videos on our YouTube Playlist.

Additionally, throughout March, our exhibition on "75 Women in 75 Years of the Council of Europe" was presented at the Lieu d’Europe in Strasbourg. Created in 2024 to celebrate the Council of Europe's 75th anniversary, this exhibition pays tribute to the often unknown women who have contributed to the Council of Europe since its creation.

The exhibition was organised in cooperation with the Council of Europe and the Permanent Representations of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the United Kingdom to the Council of Europe. It will now travel to Luxembourg for presentation at the 134th Session of the Committee of Ministers in May.
