Following the successful implementation of the Barnahus in Slovenia, DG REFORM of the European Commission and the Council of Europe have joined forces in combatting violence against children and ensuring child protection and child-friendly justice through joint projects to set up Barnahus in several EU Member States, including Finland, Spain and Ireland. Barnahus is a leading European model for a child-friendly multidisciplinary and interagency response to child sexual exploitation and abuse.
On 30th January 2023, DG REFORM of the European Commission and the Council of Europe kick-started the new project in Ireland “Support the implementation of the Barnahus project in Ireland”. The project aims to ensure that delays in the treatment of cases are diminished and all children victims of sexual violence benefit from a child-friendly access to justice.
