On June 18, the European Union delivered a statement at the 1532^nd Meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies at the Council of Europe, highlighting its unwavering commitment to eradicating torture. This crucial message precedes the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture on June 26, 2025, underscoring the ongoing relevance of addressing these abuses within Europe.

On July 9, the European Union delivered a statement at the 1534^th Meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies at the Council of Europe, welcoming the release of Siarhei Tsikhanouski and four other political prisoners from Belarus as well as nine citizens of third countries, while expressing deep concerns about the human rights situation in Belarus and strongly condemning the continuing persecution and intimidation campaigns against all segments of Belarusian society.
