EU Statements at the Council of Europe in April 2025

In April, the European Union delivered five statements at the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. The statements were delivered in the context of International Roma Day, on Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, on the occasion of European Court of Human Rights President Bošnjak’s last address to the CM, in the context of World Press Freedom Day, and on the Secretary General’s thirty-first consolidated report on the conflict in Georgia.

On 2 April, the EU delivered a statement at the Committee of Ministers in the context of International Roma Day 2025, expressing commitment to uphold, protect and promote the enjoyment of Roma and Travellers’ human rights in Europe.

 

On 16 April, the EU delivered a statement at the Committee of Minister on the Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, condemning the missile attacks in Sumy and  Kryvyi Rih and calling for a just and lasting peace based on the UN Charter and international law.

 

On 23 April, the EU delivered a statement on the occasion of President Bošnjak’s last address to the CM, praising his legacy as President of the European Court of Human Rights. 

 

On 30 April, the EU delivered a statement ahead of World Press Freedom Day, reaffirming its commitment to free, independent and pluralistic media as an essential condition for upholding democracy and human rights.

 

On 30 April, the EU delivered a statement on the Secretary General’s thirty-first consolidated report on the conflict in Georgia, welcoming the report and reiterating its support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognised borders.
