Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in El Salvador?

We offer:

A traineeship of up to 6 months within the Political, Press & InformationSection of the EU Delegation to El Salvador and SICA. The tentative start date is in November 2026.

Main tasks: 

  • Support the communication and public diplomacy activities of the EU Delegation in El Salvador, with a strong focus on increasing the visibility and outreach of the European Union through creative and impactful storytelling.
  • Create engaging digital content for the Delegation’s social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, X and other communication channels, with the objective of increasing audience engagement and public impact.
  • Produce high-quality photo and dynamic video coverage during official meetings, field visits, cultural activities, interviews, conferences and public events, capturing content that communicates the EU’s work, values and partnerships in an engaging and human-centred way.
  • Assist in the planning, organisation and visibility of public diplomacy events, including festivals, cultural activities, conferences, runs, exhibitions, Europe Month activities and the Europe Day celebrations.
  • Contribute creative ideas aimed at reaching wider and younger audiences through innovative formats, interviews, podcasts, radio collaborations, media outreach, trivia, interactive content and strategic partnerships.
  • Draft communication materials, social media captions, newsletters, press-related content and promotional texts.
  • Support relations with media outlets, universities, civil society organisations, sponsors, cultural partners and private sector stakeholders for communication and outreach purposes.
  • Assist in ensuring the smooth organisation and high-quality presentation of events and public activities of the Delegation, with attention to visibility and detail.
  • Monitor social media trends, engagement metrics and communication opportunities to proactively suggest new initiatives and improve the Delegation’s social media presence.
  • Provide flexible support to the Political, Press and Information Section in its daily activities and public diplomacy initiatives.

We look for:

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • University degree in communications, journalism, audiovisual production, marketing, graphic design, public relations, international relations or a related field.
  • Excellent command of English and Spanish (written and spoken).
  • Strong interest in digital communication, public diplomacy, storytelling and social media strategy.
  • Creativity, initiative and a proactive attitude, with the ability to generate original ideas and react quickly to communication opportunities.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to coordinate with external partners, media, sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic diplomatic environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, including during events and public activities.
  • Experience with photography, video editing, social media content creation and graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut or similar) is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of current social media trends and audience engagement strategies is highly desirable.
  • Interest in European affairs, culture and international cooperation is an advantage.
  • Candidates must have less than one year of professional experience after their graduation by the signing of the Traineeship agreement. (other traineeships or student jobs or volunteering works carried out during university or after graduation are not considered as professional experience

Important information to read before applying

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee. 

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin. 

Citizens from EU Member states:

  • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
  • must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable,  based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
