17th Euro Film Festival celebrated in Asmara

The opening ceremony, hosted by the Delegation of the European Union and supported by the Embassies of France, Germany, Italy and Sweden brought together representatives from the Government of Eritrea, diplomatic missions, and Eritrean citizens, including many young people and students.
Organised in close partnership with the Ministry of Information, the festival presented a selection of films from across Europe. Its goal was to strengthen cultural ties and promote deeper mutual understanding between Europe and the State of Eritrea.
On this occasion, the EUDEL presented films from the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. These films reflected connected histories, values, friendship, team spirit and lived experience of different European citizens, showing the richness and diversity of life across the European continent. Audiences enjoyed a varied programme of drama, comedy, sport, adventure and animated features, opened for viewers of all ages. All films were screened in their original languages accompanied by English subtitles.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, H.E. Mr Gianluca Grippa, EU Ambassador to Eritrea, said “This festival is a show case of varied cultures of the Member States but also an opportunity to show audiences the brilliant products of the vibrant European entertaining industry’’. Each year, the Euro Film Festivals is a window into Europe, a platform for sharing good stories, and a bridge between people and nations.
