We are

The European Union (EU) is a unique economic and political partnership between 27 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, financial assistance and working with global organisations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.

The EU Delegation to Georgia has a mandate that includes promoting the political and economic relations between the European Union and Georgia, monitoring the implementation of the Association Agreement, Georgia’s membership application to the EU and disseminating information on the tangible benefits of the EU´s policies and programmes. 

We offer

A post of Driver (male or female) in the Delegation’s Administration Section. The contract (Local agent - Group V) will be concluded as an unlimited term contract (upon the successful completion of a probation period) and will be subject to local legislation.

Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation, and on the changes of these needs. The successful candidate will serve under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of Section, providing technical and support assistance.

Main tasks

-           Drive cars of the Delegation, strictly adhering to the Road code

-           Provide safe transportation of Delegation staff or visitors in Tbilisi and outside while on mission

-           Daily monitor various EU Delegation cars -  technical condition, including checking on oil/ other fluids, tools, accessories and emergency equipment

-           Ensure prompt service / maintenance / cleaning (interior and exterior) of the EU Delegation cars

-           Immediately report to the Administration in the event of deficiencies, failures, damages or accidents

-           Ensure timely and adequately filling of the petrol tanks

-           Keep vehicle logbooks up-to-date

-           Daily encode/update information on daily trips in the relevant IT applications

-           Assist with Office and Delegation Expat staff cars registration / removal from registration

-           Ensure compliance with the traffic rules - defensive driving style

-           Run errands for the Delegation, mail deliveries, and light clerical works

-           Any other task required in the interest of the service

 

Minimum requirements / eligibility criteria (necessary for the application to be considered)

-           Medical fitness, excellent physical condition and good eyesight

Qualifications

  • Minimum Secondary Education
  • Valid driving licence
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle mechanics and routine vehicle care
  • Excellent knowledge of the local streets and traffic conditions and rules in Georgia would be an asset
  • Successful completion of a professional driver/security training would be an asset

Professional Experience

-           Minimum five years of professional working experience as a driver

-           Experience with International Organisation or Diplomatic Mission would be an asset

Knowledge of Languages

Spoken English – Intermediate level

Georgian – Fluent

Knowledge of other European language(s) would be an asset

Knowledge of IT tools

Basic IT skills.

  • Excellent road behaviour, attention to the safety of passengers and other road users, strictly following road code

-           Polite manners and elegant appearance at all times, including wearing full business suit as required by duties

-           Punctuality, discretion and confidentiality

-           Flexibility

-           Ability to work under pressure, stress resistance

-           Willingness to work overtime and to undertake missions at a short notice

-           Service oriented and good communication skills

-           Ability to work in a team

The process

After the deadline for applications, the applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee set up for this purpose. The Selection Committee will prepare a short-list of candidates who are considered to be the most suitable for the post on the basis of a preliminary assessment of the information provided in their application letter.  The short-listed candidates will be invited to a final assessment phase which may include a writing test, driving test and an interview.
